behind me, the work force of our bay area, san francisco, and oakland and others. want to thank everybody for coming here this morning. you know, we have another announcement to make, but it's consistent with the efforts that are being made by the warriors management to work with all of us in the city and to really adapt to the kinds of things that we've all shown as the values of our city. it is so important ause i remin people, this is a private investment of hundreds of millions of dollars. did i say 5 last week? [laughter] >> i think rick is reminding me it might be north of that a lot more. but what it means, what it means to all of us that are not always on top of all the fiscal things that we have, it means a lot of jobs. and this is so important to all of us, is job creation, job sustaining. and, so, we have some great announcements to make and it continues the effort of making these piers 30-32 to be of greater significance than the decaying piers that we have inherited for so many decades. i'm excited that we're continuing this effort to make sure that the warriors move here, th

, but because of the work and the jobs that have been, you know, held by oakland residents for years. and when we asked and talked about workers from the oakland arena being able to have first shot at the jobs over here, they were very supportive of that. and i think that speaks a lot about what this project is. it's not just a san francisco project. it's a bay area project. it's a project in which working families throughout the bay area will be able to make a living. so, i just want to thank the warriors for seeing it in those big pictures and big terms. and, mr. mayor, for you to really have the insight and the leadership in bringing everybody together. i'd like to introduce wyling hoover who is our leader in oakland. and after wyling comes up, i'd like johnny stakes who is a worker at the oakland arena and billy who works at the ballpark here to say a couple words. >> hi, wyling from local 50. i must say that we will be sad to see the warriors go and we prefer for them to stay in oakland. we're really delighted at how we're being embraced here today and being welcomed into san francisco. o

across the bay or look down in san jose, where the crime rates have rocketed off the charts. oakland has twice the number of homicides we have in a city half the size because they were laying off officers. i think the reality of the situation you that you have to have officers on the streets with proactive law enforcement in order to prevent that situation. so i think the fact that we're hiring we owe great honors and kudos to the mayor and the board of supervisors. because otherwise we would be in the same situation and it's terrible what is happening over there, especially in oakland. with reference to other reports i attended a memorial with the chief for officer gelf, who was also killed in the line of duty and interesting, most of the officers there were talking how they were going to retire in the next six months and making the hiring of new officers very important. our officers learned that night that they should have the same weapons so they could share am nation and legislation that resulted from that because the suspect who killed the officer was wearing body armoire. it was a

, multiple departments. >> example, in oakland, they only submit the job. san jose also submit a job. los angeles also submit a job. it's a little bit different in our case. therefore we are still looking, doesn't mean we give up the idea. >> great. >> deputy director sweeney, you were just going to say --. >> i think if we ever came across a system or heard of a system that's worked, bring it to us and talk to us about it. >> we had los angeles building and safety up two months ago and i showed them the fifth floor, they were very surprised about the ease with which you can come in. they say you make an appointment and you come in at 11:00, 10 after 11:00 and you meet the building inspector or the engineer, then you can go over the counter, but you have to have an appointment. second thing they were surprised about is some of the size of the jobs that we'll plan check over the counter. oakland, everything comes in and they turn it around and they give you a date to come pick it up. and san jose, as tom said, it's by appointment only. so we are kind of unique where we have a large fl

in oakland and my organization and youth uprising are doing a program that day jointly of the gun buy back in san francisco will be held at the omega boys club on tennessee street. this is a billboard which will go up very shortly. we're going to do what we can to get some disbuns off the street. >> thank you. commissioner chan. >> good evening i am angela chan and at the manager attorney at the program and work on access and immigrant issues and worked on domestic violence issues and i am excited to be here tonight for this historic joint meeting. >> and i am sharing a seat with my colleague here. hello i am susie loftus and the chief operating center of wellness and a center in bay view designed to change outcomes to kids and looking at trauma violence. i was a produce cuter here in san francisco and i served as at the attorney general's office. we are raising three girls in the city. native san franciscan and i am happy we are brought together to shine a light on what we have done and what we need to do. >> good evening. i am julie turman and i have been on the police commissio

will be helpful. i worked well with the city and the oaklands. i first heard about the cta in grad school. i was studying as inner local inner regional body. my interest in transportation, i'm a computer and -- commuter and i like to serve the city. >> do you see yourself having a particular focus of priority as a member of the cse? >> two things, i would like to -- my interest are basically west to east and east to west since i live in the sun set. i'm also curious to see how the brt come through. >> okay. any comments or questions? thank you mr. goldsmith. any other candidate for district four seat or district six seat? we have any candidates for district nine come forward. if you're interested in making a statement. >> i enjoyed my role on the citizen's advisory committee. being a committee member who held them accountable and transparent. additionally i say my over ten years of work in the community, working in nonlot ofs and serving on the community board give me a wide perspective of issue that's many communities have. getting around san francisco whether it's by foot, by bus, by car,

the most really typical building that with just completed in oakland is a 10-story mid rise, 1440 broadway t. was well reported in the news because unfortunately right after we bought it, the [speaker not understood] destroyed the building and it's right there occupy oakland. and we've come back and built that. we had that building to its historic pinnacle and it's absolutely beautiful. our lead tenant in it is a company, well known company in the east bay called oaklandish. that is a design company. well known design company. so, the two office buildings, 101, 104, 114 broadway is very similar. we're right in the middle of a rehab in cincinnati, ohio, a brick building very similar to that one -- to -- this is also going office light industrial. i would say 1440 would be the best nearby example of the 101 and 104-type building. the two buildings that are subject to the advisory of imminent collapse which is 113 and 114, that would probably be like the last slide, which was the 4-point project in richmond, california. that building won the national merit award, which is one of the highest a

francisco. oakland took 300 guns as well totaling 600 guns off the streets of the bay area in one saturday. so that's a good thing. and then finally we did some promotions. we did 8 captains, they have been assigned, 15 lieutenants, they have also been lieutenants, and 29 sergeants, the entire group is in the academy right now and they will go to their respective assignments on saturday and as we close out the holiday season we did bayview toy give away today, mission station and api on bay shore was on saturday and obviously operation dream in various joy give aways will be going forward the rest of the holiday season. and that concludes my report. >> well, thank you, chief. speaking of the real positive news, the press conference with officers cloud and gritch, it wasn't only commissioner loftus that was crying, it was maybe another commissioner. >> i didn't want to be the one that said it, i'm glad you said it. >> even our commission secretary who has done a lot with this department had tears in his eyes. it was an incredible press conference. what those two officers did was beyond

in 800 mega hurtz and not what oakland had but the simulcast radios and departments didn't want toking on the same but we put them on it and you're probably in the next genraition of those radios right now and by the way -- there was a man here who preceded the mayor. it was then called the chief administrative officer and rudy rothenberg and incredible civil servant and i worked with him on this building. in fact i drew this building. i had architecture work as a midship man and if i find it i'm going to give it to you. we also as a result of that we subsumed the department of public health ambulance into the fire department and should have been done years ago and we centralized 911 upstairs. it was a great ride. in addition to the people i mentioned there were scores of others that helped me to succeed kronenberg was one of these people to help me when the political system was going on and i am particularly indebted to the usual suspects, the san francisco suspects who come forward when you have problems and help you to fix them, and i will end with that because they make a dif

of there's an abused animal there is likely to be abuse in the family. >> in oakland, san jose, what they indicated to me was well, they don have a formal policy such as what we have. that many feel good but they are scrambling around trying to figure it out. some of the questions i posted, hopefully that will spark interest in developing an lao project. >> i want to be a strong advocate for a cross agency training; i had the benefit, dr. rossi put this together -- training on domestic violence, cantonese and spanish. officer kathy wong was in my class along social service workers, 911 tech people. the cross training of people, cross disciplinary if possible. >> one of my goals is a streamlined the process; if we have a pool of authors that want to take the test and be certified, and increase the certification not only in chinese, spanish, russian but perhaps vietnamese, maybe we can get a test going in more regular basis to make it easier for the officers to take tests and be certified. >> commissioner turman. >> commissioner turman: perhaps you can give us sort of a qui

[applause] i would also like to welcome former governor from new york patacky and thank you for your leadership. over the next days you will learn about sustainable practices. you will network with the greatest minds in the industry and enjoy your time here. be thoughtful. be creative and go out and lead the befl energy and green policies for the rest of the country. congratulations and thanks for being here in san francisco. [applause] >> well, good morning, good morning, everyone, and thank you for joining us. here in the outer sunset on a, what is looking to be a beautiful day, my name is joaquin torres, with the work force development lead intion mayor lee's program look tog coordinate city resources both existing and new to serve our neighborhoods in need and to serve our small business commercial corridors. one of the things that has been so important to the mayor is making sure that we're attentive and

cities that have recently passed ordinance, oakland, belmont and novato have recently passed legislation. this ordinance would increase public awareness and really raise awareness that we need to create more smoke-free housing in our buildings and throughout our neighborhoods. the version of this ordinance that you see before you is an amendment of the whole where the requirement that land lords report both smoke free and smoking optional units has been amended to only require reporting of smoking optional units. again i want to thank the tenant organizations and apartment association for their leadership but especially aliana caruco from the department of public health and desiree for drafting the ordinance. with that, i'd like to ask aliana caruco to make a public presentation. >> good afternoon, supervisors, my name is aliana caruca, i'm with the department of public health and i'm tobacco free director so i'm

and oakland services use gate e. blue and gold operates ferries from value layer row and allay media to at&t partial and this service has been incredible pap more he especially this year with the giants success. in january blue and gold was awarded the water transportation authority contract under this contract we operate ferries to value layer row and ala media and so fraction and we work with the w ta to not only bring terminals to the ferry building but passengers to pier 41. this is a huge opportunity for blue and gold fleet and we have the personality, expertise to fulfill all of the obligation and responsibilities of the contract. p in total. blue and gold is projected to pay one.twoi w2 million-dollar to the point. a growth of 20% infinite ferry market and eight% in the excursion market and we are prat proud of our complicates and could not have done it without the hard work and loyalty of our employee and is in the next five years we feel that ferry rider ship has tremendous potential for growth with the support of wetta the industry will see significant growth in ferry operat

that golden state warriors with their lease expiring in oakland in 2017. i understand the reason for the pace of the project but we have of course asked for a balance to be struck, given many of the concerns that residents have around traffic and noise and density, and also how we as a city is going to respond to the increased infrastructure demands with this arena in place. i do want to thank the city and the warriors for agreeing to some kind of slow down to certain level of -- for example, moving oir eir scoping meeting from mid-december not midst of the holidays when residents are with their families and employees and pushing that to mid-january and also requiring that our citizens advisory committee, which was set up to advise both the board of supervisors and the mayor's office on this project, have at least two meetings in their cap meetings to discuss the term sheet before it comes to the full board and to allow the citizens advisory committee to actually give the board and city feedback on the term sheet before we get a chance to actually discuss it and vote for it. so i did make a s

and their families and our landlords. tunnel, however. last month, the city attorney in oakland filed a lawsuit against theap 6!ñ federal government top forfeitures of licensed permitted businesses. last week in berkeley unanimously the berkeley city council decided to follow this lawsuit, and eventually join it. i would like our city attorney in san francisco to consider this, but i do not seem to be on his radar so i am here before you to ask you to prod him, if possible. and i think it may notkr%( k÷ ba solution, but it's atØ:é least - an important symbolic gesture. i want to wish you all happy thanksgiving, and just a quote comes to mind in this longejag2 afternoon, by bob dylan, even the president of the united states sometimes -- naked. thanks again for your attention, consideration, and this opportunity. >> president chiu: thankd>&j(? . >> got to8jp% go, gobble gobble gobble go, gobble gobble go, gobble gobble gobble go, hey. i want to see this here right here. the transgenders have just left outside the city -- today. thank you for the support. although we're finding out in this cit

lines beyond towards oakland. we want to provide a large views and connected views and movement along the east side of the pier. then to the south adjacent to the new street wharf project, we want to create a more recreational low rise atmosphere, the best response to these new developments by the city and to the west. alongside the seawall sites, we want to have a scale that's intimate with the embarcadaro and that is responsive to the cultural traditions that most people recognize along the embarcadaro. you'll also see squares, there is a little square up there that's red. that is the location of reds which is one of the structures on the site. and there's been another blue square off to the left that is the water mark residences that are part of the adjoining sites here and we're trying to take care of their interests as we develop the project further. you maybe have seen some images of this site in the past. this is one of the views taken from a newspaper article showing a earlier understanding of what might be built here and essentially the arena was placed in the center of the s

in oakland, they got arrested in richmond, they may have gotten arrested in san mateo. to that end it's all of our -- the individual might have gotten arrested in san mateo, wendy will make sure we work together as a region as opposed to just san francisco. so there is no more fragmentation of responsibility. the other new thing we came up with is an actual calendar. you are familiar with zone enforcement. now we have an actual calendar for thursday through sunday and what it does, i personally do the calendar, i include the specialized units like the hondas, the solos, the tactical units, day watch and night watch and the violence reduction teams and gang task force. and the calendar, literally i assume people tote zones and assign people to those areas both days and nights and the supervisor who is on screen we have their cell phone number right on the calendar. so if something happens or if they need information from me, i can immediately send it to them. for example, just using it as an example, violence in the mission. what had happened was many of the officers, they have a genera

speaker. >> good evening. my name is barbara tangori. i've been living across the bay in oakland for several decades, but i do come back and forth, working on several campaigns. but i'm here tonight particularly for one person, who impressed me tremendously for her gutsy vote for sheriff ross mirkarimi to go back to work as sheriff of this city. christina olague, you were appointed into the position. you took a risk, and i admire you for your principle, rather than the political part of it. thank you very much. and i wish you all the very best. and i'm so glad i was here tonight because i heard a lot of wonderful things. i've never talked top pu i've never met you. i've never even crossed the aisle with you, you know, anywhere. so thank you so much. and i wish you all the very best. and supervisor kim, i was very much surprised. thank you for your vote. supervisor avalos and supervisor campos, i always thought, from the very beginning, because all we needed was just two supervisor votes, to bring him back as sheriff. thank you so very much. and i'm -- asked one of the sheriffs he

their business so i know you have, i know you've been in contact with oakland and surrounding areas because they move people all the time. chief, i just want to ask, how much are we involved both regionally and nationally in this whole -- are there forums that go on? i know you have attended a couple things. >> as tony was saying, arlan vanderbilt brought this forward. i think he has a lot of credit and commissioner loftus is holding the department's feet to the fire and rightfully so. that's why we're looking for this grant and we'll be actually at some point in time growing the human trafficking unit as we get our staffing up to speed. >> also we do attend other meetings in the bay area so we attend a monthly meeting down in san jose, so we're constantly in communication with other sister agencies, not only law enforcement but also other advocate groups like, for example, not to get in too much detail, i talked to an attorney down in san jose right now where this person is willing to come forward regarding an incident so they feel confident to come to san francisco to talk about someth
